Calibration Process & Concept

Calibration Approach

To help us learn how to perform keyword selection, we’ll use a learing calibration cycle, in additon to basic classes on calls with slides.
Here’s how it works:
  1. Class for process explanation.
  2. Batch 1a with 10 records for each of you to work on.
  3. Class to review the 10 records where I work the Lessons and explain the reasons for selection and rejection of keywords as well as the reasons for designating some keywords Primary and some Secondary.
  4. Then you review and rework that file, Batch 1b, and attempt the next batch Batch 2a.
  5. On the next class (usually the next day) I will review the new batch of 10 records to review the process and explain my reasons for selection.
  6. This process will repeat for 5x Calibrations

Files Location and Naming:

  1. Files are 10x records in a Batch.
  2. All Team members get the same 10x records in each batch.
  3. Batch files are stored in a folder for each Team member.
  4. Batches arrive in pairs, so:
    1. STDY - Keyword Calibration - Batch 1a - Joan
    2. STDY - Keyword Calibration - Batch 1b - Joan
  5. Batches are added after each class.
  6. Do not rework the “a” version of a batch, but feel free to refer back to it.
  7. Periodically, the files will be checked and compared.

Concept

As you work through the “a” version of a batch, it gives you a sense of the data, the challenges for each Lesson and practice making choices for Primary and Secondary Keywords.
During the class, you’ll see how the data should be worked (based on calibration with Study.com) along with the underlying reasons for the selections.

After class, you will rework the data in the “b” version of the batch to apply what you’ve learned in the calibration class. Ideally, this will involve some revelations and greater understanding of the logic involved.
