Search Region
Search region is the location a search engine checks to return results.
The search engine knows location because most browsers send this information based on an IP address.
IP address or Intent Protocol addresses are usually designated by your router and tell the work where you are sitting, somewhat like the way a phone number indicated country location.
This concept is important because search results are different based on your location. A search for a call center from a Philippines IP address is very different than a search from a US IP address.
Your custom search engine can be customized to prefer search results from a particular country or region. Results from other countries or regions may still appear with lower ranking. You can also customize your search engine to exclusively return results from the selected country or region, filtering out all other results.
On the Custom Search home page, click the search engine you want.
Click Setup, and then click the Basics tab.
In the Region section, select your desired country or region from the list.
(Optional) If you want to restrict search results exclusively to the selected region, switch the restrict button to ON.
